HW:  Do in the following order/*EMAIL YOUR ESSAY TO ME BY SUNDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 7th, BY MIDNIGHT!
1)  IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU NEED SOME EXTRA HELP…PLEASE CONTACT ME & I WOULD BE HAPPY TO MEET WITH YOU SOMETIME THIS WEEK ONE ON ONE.  IF YOU’RE NOT READY TO DO THAT JUST YET, THEN YOU MIGHT WANT TO RE-READ, STUDY, & APPLY THE FOLLOWING TO THIS WEEK’S ESSAY: 
            a.  Format for the 5 Paragraph Essay & Tips
            b.  5 Par. Essay Rubric
            c.  Helps & Tips for Improving Your Essay
            d.  Five Paragraph Essay Booklet (23 pages)
            e.  Tips on How to Write a Good Conclusion (Handout that I gave you today)
 
 2)  Read p. 141-162 (ch. 12)
 
 3)  Answer the following essay question THOROUGHLY: 
Discuss the rueful changes that are happening in Jean Louise’s life in her beloved hometown of Maycomb as well as their overwhelmingly painful effects; these unwelcome transformations keep coming at her fast and furiously like waves in the ocean that keep crashing over and over, knocking her off of her feet to the point that she feels as if she is drowning in the Sea of Metamorphosis. *(BE SURE TO DISCUSS BOTH THE CHANGES & THEIR EFFECTS!)

 
4)  Vocabulary Words:  Be sure to use 3 of the 6 following vocabulary words in your essay (SEE RUBRIC #14)
            a.  ruefully (adv.) – feeling or expressing regret
            b.  succumbed (v.) – to yield to an overpowering force
            c.  ambiguous (adj.) – liable to more than one interpretation
            d.  recumbent (adj.) – lying down; resting or idle
            e.  acutely (adv.) – keenly perceptive or discerning; sensitive
              f.  NAACP (n.) - the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People–is the most important organization in African-American politics, and historically it was the most visible organization in the 20th century struggle for freedom and equality.
