Art Homework due 3/1 Empty
PostSubject: Art Homework due 3/1   Art Homework due 3/1 EmptyWed 24 Feb 2016, 12:56 am

Hi All, just a reminder that I need all past due homework by next week. All perspective sheets should be turned in, as well as the M.C. Esher questions and the Tessellations. I need to see all sketchbooks next week to make sure that sketchbook assignments have been done. That includes the 16 gesture drawings that were due 2/23 and the work that is due next week. If you turned in your Tessellation and I gave it back to you before the final grade, it is because I wanted you to add more color to make the designs bolder. I will be collecting those next week.

I will also give you more information on the Art Show at the end of the year next week.

For next week:

1. Go back to the homework pages posted the last 2 weeks  review the videos and look over the worksheets I handed out last week and the foreshortening worksheet I handed out in class. These sheets are good reference sheets to refer to when drawing figures.

2. Read through the info and view the video on this page http://thevirtualinstructor.com/gesturedrawing.html

You will notice that he is doing a gesture drawing but with a bit more detail. I would like you to find a photo from a magazine of a guy just standing and draw him. Use a graphite pencil, this is a drawing pencil that has a softer lead. Use one page for this drawing and take more time to add a little more detail than the shorter drawings we have been doing. Add tone value to the drawing.

3. Go to http://thevirtualinstructor.com/foreshortening.html Read the article and view the video on foreshortening.

It may be a little harder to find a photo showing a figure that way, so you have a couple of options if that is not possible. You can  take a photo of a family member to draw from or you can pick a figure from the reference sheet and draw that or you can try to draw the figure from the video. Once again use a graphite pencil and use the whole page for the figure drawing. Add the tone value to give the gesture drawing some depth and detail.

4. Go to http://thehelpfulartteacher.blogspot.com/search?q=gesture+drawing

Once again it is about gesture drawing and gives info on finding the action line in a figure drawing. Read through the info on the page and view the video tutorial. You don't have to print out the grid just read through the info on the page.

Find a photo of a guy in action and a photo of a gal in action. It could be a guy running, playing sports etc. Or a gal dancing, playing sports etc. Using a graphite pencil, use a page per drawing (one for the guy, one for the gal.) Add some detail and tone value to the drawings like the first two you did.

You will have a total of 4 separate gesture figure drawings. I will be bringing in the box for sketchbooks and leaving them in the Bat Cave. Leave your sketchbook in the box by 12:30!

For next week bring your notebooks, sketchbooks, and art supplies except your paints and brushes.

Have a great week!
