Research Paper Homework #3 due April, 3rd SUNDAY by midnight: 
 
1.  Take quiz on plagiarism at the following website:  
http://www.brighthubeducation.com/english-homework-help/126240-self-quiz-on-plagiarism-for-writing-essays-and-assignments/.  This should take about 10 minutes.  study
2. COPY & PASTE THE FOLLOWING DECLARATION:  I, (name of student), took the quiz on plagiarism.  Now that I fully understand what constitutes plagiarism and am aware of the severe consequences of plagiarizing, my intent is to be totally honest as I write this research paper and declare that I have written this paper myself and given credit for all ideas, quotes, and paraphrasing of others’ ideas that are not my own by citing the sources.   I WANT YOU AND YOUR PARENT TO SIGN THIS DECLARATION.

Grade on quiz: 
This is part of your homework and counts as a grade…100 or 0.  This is to be turned in April 5th, Tuesday at class time.    I am not so concerned about your grade on the quiz as I am that you learned more about what constitutes plagiarism. 
3.  Read ch. 8- p. 45-48-Outline
4.  Read ch. 10 - p. 61-64-Targeting Useful Information (*also p. 65-78; see b. below!)
     a.  Do practice exercise (instructions on p. 62-63)
     b.  Read & follow directions on p. 65-78
     c.  Fill out information inside of the boxes on p. 63 (this tells me you did it! Smile
5.  Read ch. 11 - p. 79-84-Using Relevant Material
6.  Read ch. 12 - p. 84-90-Taking Notes
7.  Type out your Topic Outline (see p. 45-48)
     a.  Use the same format from the handout (TIPS ON TOPIC OUTLINES)/also from the PURDUE OWL SAMPLE OUTLINE THAT I GAVE YOU IN CLASS! 
     b.  EMAIL ME YOUR TOPIC OUTLINE SUNDAY, APRIL 3rd BY midnight
8.  Begin writing NOTE CARDS (see ch. 10-12) on 4 x 6 lined index cards
     a.  See examples on p. 84-90 (follow EXACT FORMAT!)
     b.  You should have approximately 15-20 note cards (depending on how much you are writing on them...one sentence doesn't count...FILL UP THE CARD!   affraid
     c.  Bring your note cards & typed PLAGIARISM DECLARATION with yours and your parent’s signatures to the Bat Cave so I can grade them & give them back.  I will be there by 8:00 a.m.
    
9.  FOLLOW YOUR RESEARCH PAPER RUBRIC #3 PRECISELY! 
PLEASE PRINT OUT YOUR RUBRIC & CIRCLE YES OR NO IN REGARDS TO THE QUESTIONS AT THE BOTTOM & PUT IN YOUR FOLDER!
