Due October 6th: 1.
Continue to work on memorizing the terms on quizlet. We will have an in-class written quiz next Tuesday.
Please be prepared for that. (I will bring writing instruments and the quiz…you don’t need to bring anything extra to class.)
Again, here is the link for those terms:
http://quizlet.com/7098164/karate-terms-flash-cards/ 2.
Practice your katas this week at home three different times.
White belts…work specifically on your stance each time you practice your kata. Every move in first basic is in zenkutsa dachi stance. Remember that your feet should be shoulder width apart
throughout the kata. Pause several times to check your stance.
Yellow belts…go through both of your katas the first time you practice. Work on having excellent form throughout the kata. The second time you work katas, focus on your stances. The third time, focus on your arm movements. By keeping your focus on one specific area, you will improve the entire kata.
3.
Do 15 push-ups and 15 sit-ups one day.
4.
Practice all of your blocks
in front of a mirror. Look at your arm placement for each block.
Jodan Uke (High block) should be over your head with a slight bend to your arm.
Soto Uke (Middle block) should cross in front of your body and should end with your fist at the top of your head and just to the right or left of your body.
Gedan Uke (Low block) should also cross in front of your body but the outside of your arm should end at the outside of your quad and should be fully extended.
