* Finish your analogy worksheet ("Complete the Analogy #1).
* Read the two stories in the handout packet, "Checkouts" and "The Girl Who Can," using the close reading annotation marks on the handout you received in class. Note that you may also write your own notes about things you notice, or underline bits of the text that you particularly like. Aim to have no fewer than three annotations per page.
You do not need to answer the critical thinking questions at the end of each text.
DO, however, create a chart like the one in question 1 on page 93 and complete the chart, noting the actions, thoughts and feelings of the characters in both stories.
Write down two comments or questions about each text for class discussion.
* Write an autobiographical narrative. Before you begin writing, please read through pages 94-96 in your packet. Your narrative should be approximately 2-3 pages long. You should bring a completed draft to class; we will work together on revisions.
