PostSubject: Books and Movies for Extra Credit   Sat 27 Feb 2016, 9:06 pm

This is by no means an exhaustive list.  If you or your parents have a suggestion- let me know.  Also this list is a general one that I've gotten from other databases.  I have NOT personally read or watched all the titles.  I cannot state emphatically enough that you must ask your parents to look at the title or movie, read a few reviews and decide if the subject matter is treated in a way that is consistent with your family's comfort for the level of violence or language or suggestive scenes.  War is a tough subject and everyone has different opinions on what is too much.

You will get 2 points credit for every movie title- up to 3 movies or 3 points credit for up to 3 books- or mix and match.

To receive credit you parent must email me a note saying what you have done and when.  No extra credit will be awarded after May 3rd.

The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom
Any war book by Albert Marrin (these are seriously excellent and easy reads)
Red Scarf Girl, Ji-li Jiang
Ghost Soldiers, Hampton Sides
Here is a YA list from Goodreads- http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2199.YA_Holocaust_WWII_Novels
Here are general nonfiction war books- http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/824.Best_Non_fiction_War_Books

Many of the above books have been made into movies.   Also consider:
Galipoli, with Mel Gibson
Saving Private Ryan
Imitation Game
The Boy in Striped Pajamas
Life Is Beautiful
The Monuments Men
Empire of the Sun
Das Boot
The Gun of Navarone
The Bridge on the River Kwai
The Great Escape
A Bridge Too Far
The Longest Day
Force Ten From Navarone
Tora! Tora! Tora!
Sergent York
Sophie Scholl: The Final Days
