Be sure to not only to thoroughly prepare the points you want to make, but to also prepare rebuttal for the arguments your opponent will potentially make.  This alone could potentially win or lose the debate!

Criteria considered when awarding a decision and assigning points:

      
· Presentation of a competent, credible, fluent and persuasive 
    arguments for acceptance or rejection of the VALUE                   resolution                            
· Communication of his / her position                                                                                
· Persuaded you that his / her position was more valid                                                 
· Supported his / her position appropriately                                                                        
· Used logic throughout the round                                                                                          
· Used evidence where necessary                                                                                          
· Clashed with the opposition’s arguments
