* Have your parent (s) read and sign your sheet on class policies and expectations. (You also need to read over and sign this yourself.)
* Read pages 6-13 in your anthology (The American Experience) and answer the questions on the handout you received in class.
* Read pages 16-25 in your anthology, as well as the two Native American creation stories that I handed out in class. In the tables on the sheets provided, fill in the appropriate information for each myth.
* Now, read Genesis 1-3 in your Bible.
* WRITE: Compare and Contrast. What elements do you find in any of the Native American creation stories you've read that are similar to the creation account in the Bible, or other stories from the Bible? (You should be able to come up with numerous examples.) In what significant ways does the Biblical creation account differ from the Native American creation stories you've read?
* Prepare to discuss: How do you explain the fact that there are some similar themes running through Native American (and other) creation myths and the Biblical creation story?
* Remember that your book analysis for your summer reading is also due on September 1st.
Have a great week, and don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions!
